It comes with a internal light that an be hooked up to your navigation light switch or your boat or car guages. When you turn them on the light on the compass turns on at the same time for easy viewing at night time.

Top top cover is adjustable to keep the reflection of the sun away from the compass reading.

ATTENTION:

This compass is designed for boats, watercrafts,cars trucks caravans etc. The reading is totally opposite to a normal compass. For example, when you are facing NORTH while the compass is placed in front of you, the reading shows "N" to you and "S" pointing in the north direction. The reading facing you is the correction direction that you are facing, that is "N".
