The original hydrofoil developed by an aeronautical engineer to improve overall performance on all boats with outboard motors. Molded in two pieces of guaranteed unbreakable, high-strength plastic, each foil is designed to flex independently to absorb shock. The positive effects include greater stability, consistent planing at lower RPM, faster out-of-the hole performance, better fuel consumption, steadier turns, higher top-end speeds and lower bow rise at all speeds. Hydrofoils are designed for use with small outboards up to 50hp. Hydrofoils work perfectly on any boat but work best on Inflatable boats, boats used for waterskiing and Tinnies. Please just make sure there is room on your outboard motors cavitation plate to mount these hydrofoils.

15-Minute Installation

Required tools: Drill motor, 1/4" (6 mm) drill bit, Phillips-head screwdriver, 7/16" (11 mm) spanner or adjustable spanner.

1. Slip each Hydrofoil over the cavitation plate directly above your propeller. Place the lines facing up Then drill 1/4" (6 mm) holes through the foil. The plate can be drilled from above or below, depending on available room for the drill motor. In some instances, a right angle drill chuck may be needed.

2. Remove each foil and clean up the plastic and metal shavings. Slip each foil onto the cavitation plate again and insert fasteners supplied (the nylon locking nuts go on top). Tighten snugly. Do not over tighten. Sealant is not required although it's nice to have on there so the bolts don't vibrate loose over a extended period on time.

Q. How do the Hydrofoils work?

It uses the same principle as airplane wings. Water flow over the wing creates lift in the stern and compensates for motor weight. Hydrofoils will "calm the boat down" in rough water and eliminate the bow-high position that is common when accelerating.

A positive effect is enjoyed due to the increased stern lift compensating for motor weight. This creates a feeling like "power steering", smoothes out the turns and reduces cavitation in tight turns.
